Curtis auction raises more than $1 million

The sale in Beverly Hills, California included art, jewellery and memorabilia owned by the actor before his death at the age of 85 last September (10).

The yachtsman jacket worn by Curtis in hit movie Some Like It Hot was one of the highlights of the Julien’s Auctions sale, raising $46,875 (£31,250), while Curtis’ Hollywood Walk of Fame plaque fetched $10,000 (£6,667) and vases by Pablo Picasso made $20,625 (£13,750).

The auction was authorised by Curtis’ widow, his sixth wife Jill, but reportedly angered his daughter Allegra who claimed she had not been informed of plans to sell off the actor’s possessions.
