Dave Davies marks 50th anniversary with U.K. show

The Kinks star Dave Davies will perform onstage in the U.K. for the first time in 13 years to mark the band’s 50th anniversary. The guitarist will perform at London’s Barbican venue in the spring (14), 50 years since he founded the rock group in 1964 with his brother Ray.
The brothers have long been rumoured to be planning a reunion to celebrate the 50th anniversary.
Dave previously told Uncut magazine, “It’s as close as it’s ever been to happening. I said to Ray I thought that it’d be a great shame if we don’t try and do something. I don’t think our love has diminished. I think the stage-play has played itself out a bit, the pretence and the acting… I don’t want to see the legacy of The Kinks soured by two miserable old men doing it for the money.”
The group’s last album was in 1993 and their final public performance took place in 1996.
Davies’ gig on 11 April (14) is billed as Dave Davies of The Kinks 50 Years of The Sound That Changes Rock N’ Roll.
