Dave Franco had a weed-induced panic attack at surprise party thrown by Alison Brie

Dave Franco suffered his first-ever panic attack after eating a marijuana cookie at a birthday party his wife Alison Brie threw during their early days of dating.

The Now You See Me actor and Glow star Alison are currently enjoying life as newlyweds after tying the knot in March (17).

Opening up about his relationship on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Thursday evening (21Sep17), Dave recalled an embarrassing incident that took place not long after they got together.

With his birthday falling just a few months after they got together Alison decided to throw him a surprise party, but when the guest list “got out of control” Dave began to get stressed out.

“I’m a pretty private person, I don’t like to be the centre of attention, so I freaked out and to alleviate my anxiety I chose to consume a weed cookie and it had the opposite affect where I ran downstairs and had the first panic attack of my life,” he said.

Further explaining he was downstairs telling Alison to “get everyone out” of the ’80s-themed ‘do, Dave remembered how the only guest left was a man dressed as cocaine – painted white and wrapped in plastic. While this individual was raiding his fridge, the 32-year-old star was in another room “literally throwing up and throwing a tantrum”.

Alison and I still talk about how (if) we survived my surprise party, we can survive anything,” he smiled.

The younger brother of James Franco also spoke about his pet cats, despite admitting his friends tell him not to talk about the felines during interviews. Host Jimmy showed a picture of the huge cats, who weigh 16 pounds (seven kilos) each, with Dave joking he’d be alone if it wasn’t for Alison.

“It definitely weeds out a lot of potential dating partners ‘cos not a lot of women are excited to dive into a relationship with a guy who sleeps with 32 pounds of cat on top of him every night,” he sighed, laughing, “Alison loves them, thank God. She was really my only option.”
