David Arquette retiring from wrestling death matches

Actor and part-time wrestler David Arquette is turning his back on death match-style fighting after he was left bloodied following a bout on Friday night (16Nov18).
The Scream star has been attempting to become a wrestling professional in recent months, but his ego suffered a big blow this weekend as he faced off with Nick Gage in a promotional match for Game Changer Wrestling in Los Angeles.
The encounter was a violent affair as they performed a series of painful stunts, with Arquette suffering a gash in his neck after Gage brought a light tube down over the 47 year old’s head.
Video footage of the brutal bout showed Arquette immediately grabbing at his neck as blood gushed from the wound, but he played through the pain to finish the match, which ended in his loss.
Arquette was tended to by onsite medics, and later took to Twitter to assure fans he would be OK.
“Thank you to all the fans for your love I’m… stitched up,” he posted, adding, “Death Matches aren’t my thing.”
He has since confirmed he won’t be competing in any more of the hardcore wrestling events, although he isn’t quitting the hobby altogether.
Asked how he was doing on Saturday, he told TMZ, “(I’m) feeling alright.”
“That’s definitely the last Death Match,” added Arquette, who shares two young boys with his wife Christina McLarty, and a 14-year-old daughter named Coco with ex-wife Courteney Cox.
