The sports ace made a surprise trip to the city’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital with British actor Ray Winstone, and the pair spent 90 minutes touring wards.
They visited military and civilian patients and their families on the mixed trauma ward, and the screen star was only to happy to give up his time.
Winstone says, “These kids (soldiers) are out there protecting my children and whatever the world’s gonna be when I’m dead and gone, so I think it’s only right that myself and the rest of the country support them.”
Beckham adds, “To come here today and see the work… of the nurses, the work of the doctors, I think it’s a pretty amazing place. It’s very uplifting because you’re meeting the guys, you’re meeting some of the troops. They are very positive about life and their future so it really has been an inspiring visit.”
In a statement posted on their Facebook.com page, organisers at CSE Forces Entertainment write, “CSE reunite with David Beckham and Ray Winstone and would like to thank them very much for coming to the QE Hospital with us. Huge boost to morale.”
