David Hasselhoff has asked Robert Rodriguez to reimagine his TV series Knight Rider as a dark, dramatic movie.
David, 65, last played Michael Knight, a law enforcement agent with a talking technologically advanced car, in 2008 in a made for TV movie, but last year (2016) it was revealed that the show was to return as a web series.

Now David has revealed he met with From Dusk til Dawn director Robert to ask him to make a new Knight Rider film in the mold of Hugh Jackman‘s final Wolverine movie Logan.

“I have met Robert Rodriguez,” the actor told CinemaBlend.com. “He does Dusk til Dawn and Machete. And I said ‘You need to do Knight Rider.’ Because he was doing a marathon of (watching) Knight Riders and he said ‘Can we have a selfie!?’ And I said, ‘No, I don’t want a selfie! I want to do the movie! I want to shoot the TV series! I want to bring it back and make it dark! Michael Knight comes back and he’s p**sed.’ … I hope it happens, and if it does, it’ll be kind of like Logan. It will be dark. Hasselhoff as Michael Knight in 2017. Knight Rider. The saga continues.”

The new web series, made for the Machinima online video network is produced by Star Trek Beyond filmmaker Justin Lin and began shooting earlier this year (2017).

David has also pitched a Knight Rider reboot to Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn after he made a cameo in the sequel to the hit superhero movie.

Earlier this month (Aug 2917) he told The Hollywood Reporter, “I’ve given some ideas to James for Knight Rider and he responded in a big way. If it does go forward, I don’t want it to be spoofed like Baywatch or 21 Jump Street. Those films lose what it’s about and you have to respect the fans.”
