David Otunga Cleared in Domestic Battery Investigation

Jennifer Hudson’s ex-fiance David Otunga will not face domestic battery charges, according to a new report.

The Dreamgirls star’s representative confirmed the couple had split in November (17), after it was revealed the singer had obtained an emergency restraining order against her ex, a former wrestler, claiming it was “in the best interest of their son”, eight-year-old David Daniel Otunga, Jr.

She subsequently filed court papers accusing her former fiance of displaying “aggressive, threatening and harassing behavior” towards the Oscar winner – allegations David vehemently denied.

Jennifer later agreed to drop the restraining order and name Otunga as the primary caregiver of David Jr., as part of a temporary custody deal.

And according to TMZ, Otunga will not face legal action over a November incident in Illinois, following which Jennifer reportedly claimed David grabbed their son by his hand and pushed her during a disagreement. Jennifer reportedly filed a police report in Burr Ridge, Illinois, but the investigation is now closed.

If the news is true, it comes days after it was reported Otunga had accused the singer of being in contempt of a court order preventing her from making public comments about their child.

On 11 December (17), David filed an emergency petition seeking sanctions after claiming police officers had forcibly removed him from the family home in front of the couple’s son, while Hudson was onstage in Chicago, Illinois.

The feuding couple is due back in court to discuss the matter in the near future.

The singer and David became engaged in September, 2008, after less than a year of dating, and they welcomed their son in August, 2009.
