Demi Lovato kicked off her Tell Me You Love Me Tour by inviting students involved in America’s latest school shooting to join her onstage.
The Sorry Not Sorry singer halted her show in San Diego, California on Monday night (26Feb18) to salute the bravery of the Florida kids, and then stunned them by asking them to join her onstage.
“On February 14, one of the worst mass shootings in American history took place. These students were in school that day,” she told the audience at Viejas Arena. “Please welcome them to the stage.”
As fans applauded, Demi added, “It has nothing to do with politics. It’s about healing. It was, how can we help these students heal from what they’ve been through? These students that came here today and shared their stories are so incredibly brave and courageous and they really are warriors in my eyes.”
Seventeen people were killed when a disgruntled former student walked onto the campus of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida and opened fire on staff and students.
His actions prompted survivors to organize the upcoming March for Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C. in an effort to force politicians to change U.S. gun laws.
