Iconic moviemaker Ed Wood’s actress wife Norma Mccarty has died, aged 93. McCarty appeared in the eccentric director’s 1959 film Plan 9 From Outer Space.
She passed away at Santa Clarita Convalescent Hospital in Newhall, California on 27 June (14), according to her son.
She did not know Wood was a cross-dresser when they wed in 1955. He confessed several weeks later, and she kicked him out of the home he shared with her two young sons from a previous relationship, according to The Hollywood Reporter. But she remained legally married to Wood until his death in 1978.
McCarty also appeared on TV series including Perry Mason and The Andy Griffith Show.
