DJ Dave Herman to face child sex charge in New Jersey

Retired rock DJ Dave Herman has been ordered to return to New Jersey from the U.S. Virgin Islands to face allegations he attempted to set up a sexual encounter with a minor. The famed U.S. radio personality was arrested upon arrival at an airport in the Virgin Islands on Thursday (24Oct13) after he was accused of setting up the meeting with the seven-year-old girl through her mother, who turned out to be an undercover police officer.
Herman is accused of plotting to sexually abuse the seven-year-old girl in the U.S., before reportedly purchasing plane tickets for the pair to fly to his holiday home in St. Croix.
Herman was hauled before a judge in the Virgin Islands on Friday (25Oct13) on a charge of transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. He did not enter a plea, but was told by Magistrate Judge George Cannon he would be transported to New Jersey, where local authorities will pick up the case.
The 77 year old, who fronted the popular Rock And Roll Morning Show from 1972 to 1998, has yet to comment on the allegations.
