A radio DJ fired after Taylor Swift accused him of groping has sent the symbolic $1 he was ordered to pay her in damages.
The Shake It Off musician won her case against David Mueller, who she accused of assaulting her during a 2013 meet-and-greet backstage at a concert in Denver, Colorado, in August (17).
Mueller has now provided a letter to The Associated Press (AP) showing he sent the $1 payment on 28 November. He sued Swift for up to $3 million in 2015, claiming her accusations were false and had resulted in his firing from Denver radio station KYGO.
The 27-year-old singer countersued for battery and sexual assault and after a judge dismissed his slander case, a jury ruled in her favour.
In an earlier AP interview, Mueller said he was planning to send her a coin featuring Sacagawea, a prominent Native American woman, in a bizarre jab at the musician.
Swift was among those editors at Time magazine dubbed ‘Silence Breakers’ and named as their 2017 Person of the Year for speaking out against sexual assault.
In an interview published in the magazine on Wednesday (06Dec17), Swift said she had yet to receive the dollar.
“To this day he has not paid me that …and I think that act of defiance is symbolic in itself,” she revealed.
Ashley Judd, the first actress to go on the record with harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein, was also named among the Silence Breakers, as were women and men in politics, business and the media who went public with their stories of sexual assault and harassment.
