DJ Khaled Admits He’s Afraid To Look Directly At Beyoncé

Hip-hop hitmaker DJ Khaled avoids making eye contact with Beyoncé whenever they are in the same room, because he is always too “starstuck” to speak.

The All I Do Is Win star served as Beyoncé’s opening act during the U.S. leg of her recent Formation World Tour, and despite becoming good friends with her husband Jay Z, Khaled confesses he still suffers from an attack of the nerves whenever Beyoncé is near.

“I’m starstruck and shy. It’s Beyoncé!” the producer exclaimed on U.S. talk show The View. “I got a chance to tour with her and open up for her show in sold out stadiums.”

“When I’m onstage I’m not shy at all, but offstage, when I go in my dressing room and talk to my brother, Jay Z, and I see Beyoncé there, I’m like, (looking at the floor). I look at Jay Z the whole time I’m talking to him, and then I try to leave right away, like, ‘Yo, I gotta go…’ I just get real (nervous). That’s Beyoncé! That’s like Michael Jackson to me.”

Khaled was officially announced as Beyoncé’s tour support in April (16), weeks after he signed to Jay Z’s Roc Nation label, with the rap veteran serving as his manager.

He couldn’t contain his excitement as shared the “major milestone” news on Instagram.com and hailed the R&B legend as “the Queen”.

“I am proud to announce that I, DJ Khaled will be on tour with the icon, Beyoncé!!!!!,” he wrote. “Fan luv (fans), when I tell you that prayer is the so powerful, please believe me.

“I want to thank the incomparable icon Beyoncé for this tremendous opportunity of a lifetime. Your music is the soundtrack to so many people’s lives across the globe. Your legacy is a blueprint for the young generation to follow and strive to be. You are the true definition of a superstar. Thank you so much for inviting me on your stage. I promise you this! I’m gonna rip it down so legendary (sic)!!!!!!”
