DMX facing demand to pay up over 2007 court ruling

Embattled rapper Dmx is facing further legal action over allegations he failed to make court-ordered payments to a clothing manufacturer over a failed promotional deal. The hip-hop star, real name Earl Simmons, was sued for breach of contract by bosses at Amusing Diversions in 2004, two years after agreeing to front dog-themed clothing line Boomer 129.
The plaintiffs claimed DMX refused to market the goods and went on to promote a rival product, while he also failed to mention the animal cruelty charges he faced following a 1999 arrest prior to signing the contract.
Amusing Diversions executives argued his criminal issues made it difficult for them to sell Boomer 129 to pet stores, and they were awarded a default judgement of $242,000 (£156,129) in 2007 after DMX repeatedly failed to show up for court.
However, the rapper has still yet to settle the debt and the clothing line owners have now turned to officials in New York County Supreme Court for help in forcing DMX to pay up.
