Donald Glover’s cameo cut from Spider-Man: Far From Home

Donald Glover’s cameo role in Spider-Man: Far From Home was cut, according to the movie’s screenwriters.

The 35-year-old actor initially starred in Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017 as petty thief Aaron Davis, and was due to return in the latest instalment of the creepy crawly franchise. However, screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers admitted in a chat with The Hollywood Reporter that they had to axe Glover’s role because his appearance would have kept the plot in New York for too long ahead of the story moving to Europe.

“Other considerations come in,” McKenna told the publication. “We went down that road a little bit, then the movie really spent such little time in Queens and gets to Europe pretty quickly. Some ideas you just have to give up.”

“That’s really what it came down to. We loved that character and we wanted to do it, but we just wanted to get out of New York and get on the trip as soon as possible. There were several things we would have loved to do in New York before he left, but we just didn’t have time.”

Tom Holland reprised his role as Spider-Man in the new movie, which was released earlier this month (July 2019).
