Donald Trump Walk of Fame star vandal sentenced to probation

A man who destroyed U.S. President Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been sentenced to probation and community service.
James Otis was arrested in October (16) after he defaced the plaque, dressed as a construction worker, as part of a protest against the property tycoon-turned-U.S. leader.
Otis was facing up to three years in prison and $10,000 (£8,000) in fines, but on Tuesday he pleaded no contest to the felony charge of vandalism and was sentenced to three years probation and 20 days of community service. He also has to pay $3,700 (£3,000) to the Hollywood Historic Trust and $700 (£560) to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for the damages made to Trump’s plaque.
Following the vandalism, Otis told TMZ he was prepared to do jail time for the crime and revealed his plans to auction off pieces of the star and donate the money to the legal defence funds of women who have accused Trump of sexual misconduct.
