Donnie Wahlberg wants his brother Mark Wahlberg to return to his Marky Mark rap persona and join New Kids On The Block on tour.

Donnie, 47, rose to fame as a member of the 1980s boyband, which Mark, 45, left after three months.
The younger Wahlberg brother later embarked on a solo rap career, leading the group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch.

Mark has since moved away from his hip-hop past, becoming a respected actor, but his brother would like to see him become Marky Mark again and tour with his old bandmates.

Donnie, who has also had a successful acting career, tells Britain’s Daily Star newspaper, “We got back together in 2008, and I think the entire band can agree we have had more success this time round than when we were younger and we are really enjoying it now. We really are having a lot of fun and, yeah, I would love to see Mark perform with New Kids.”

Mark did briefly join the band on stage for a performance in 2015, but Donnie would like to see him take things further and revive his old rap persona.

He adds, “Or even perform as Marky Mark just one more time – it would be a lot of fun and he’s got some hidden talents!”

At the height of their success in the late 1980s and early 1990s New Kids on the Block were famed for their energetic dance routines, but Donnie explains that he and bandmates Jonathan Knight, Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, and Danny Wood have had to tone things down in their old age.

“We still do some moves, but we have reduced the choreography about 20 per cent on each tour because we are getting a little older.,” he explains. “Also we don’t need to do it as much, we are letting the fans dance more than us.”

New Kids on the Block release a new single, Thankful on 12 May (17), one day before they head off on a tour of North America.
