Doug Liman battled Angelina Jolie on movie set

Angelina Jolie clashed with director Doug Liman on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The Hollywood actress starred opposite her now-fiance Brad Pitt in the comedy action film, and the director in charge admits the atmosphere became tense following a disagreement with his leading lady.
Liman reveals they both had different opinions about one particular scene, and it caused a spat.
He tells Britain’s The Times newspaper, “When I was shooting a scene on Mr. & Mrs. Smith and I had one idea of how the scene should play out… Angelina Jolie had a different idea. I said, ‘OK, we could sit here and argue, but we’re wasting time, let’s just shoot it both ways. And she was like, ‘But, then you’ll just use your way in the editing room,’ and I was like, ‘Well, I am the director. I might, but I am actually going to use the way that’s actually best for the movie. I have no ego in this.'”
Liman goes on to compare Jolie to Tom Cruise, the star of his new sci-fi blockbuster Edge of Tomorrow, insisting the Hollywood veteran would never have behaved in the same way.
He adds, “That conversation would never happen with Tom. Tom would be like, ‘You want it upside down? Right side up? I’ll give it to you every possible way for the editing room. I want you to have as many choices as possible so you can make the best movie possible that you can make.'”
Liman concludes by voicing his fear that powerful stars could potentially ruin a movie by overruling the director: “I am more afraid of making a bad movie. My fear of the film not being great exceeds my fear of the power of an actor. I’m just trying to make the moment as great as it can be.”
