Troubled singer Sinead O’Connor has been receiving mental health treatment at a facility in Nashville, Tennessee, paid for by the producers of the Dr. Phil show.

The Nothing Compares 2 U star reached out to self-help guru Dr. Phil McGraw last month (Aug17) after worrying fans by posting a lengthy video on Facebook, in which she cried as she detailed her struggle with suicidal thoughts.

Sinead subsequently revealed she was feeling better after being placed back on medication for depression, and she recently sat down for an interview with McGraw, which will air on his TV show on Tuesday afternoon (12Sep17).

In the lead-up to the chat, McGraw appeared in a promo on Good Morning America, teasing viewers by saying, “This interview was raw, it was candid, it was cathartic for her.”

“She wants to destigmatize mental illness in society (by discussing her problems in public),” he added.
It was also revealed that Dr. Phil bosses had opted to help 50-year-old Sinead get her life back on track by covering the costs of her treatment, after she confessed she had tried to kill herself eight times in one year.

“I think that what she’s dealing with can be managed,” the TV medic explained. “I don’t know if it can be cured, but it can be managed.”
