Drake Views hits four-times platinum sales

Rapper Drake had double the reason to celebrate his eight Grammy nominations on Tuesday (06Dec16) after learning his Views album has gone quadruple platinum.
The hip-hop star’s fourth solo studio album received mixed reviews upon its release in April (16), but it shot to number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 countdown, and became the biggest-selling disc of the year, with 1.04 million equivalent album units in its chart debut.
It also became the first album to hit the one billion streams milestone on Apple Music, while Drake recently became the most-streamed artist on rival music app Spotify in 2016.
And on Monday (05Dec16), Drake took to Instagram to share that Views had sold more than four million units in just seven months.
The news emerged just hours before the nominations for the 2017 Grammy Awards were announced on Tuesday, when the Canadian rapper scored eight nods, including Album of the Year, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Song for Hotline Bling.
