Drew Barrymore praises ex father-in-law at event

Drew Barrymore avoided family drama as she praised her ex father-in-law at an industry event.
The Charlie’s Angels’ star, 41, separated from art consultant husband Will Kopelman in April (16), with Drew filing papers to legally end their marriage in July (16). The pair were officially divorced in August.
The former couple, who shares daughters Olive, four, and Frankie, two, appears to have reached an amicable agreement, as the divorce was reportedly marked as “uncontested” in court documents.
And at an event to discuss online brands at New York Advertising Week on Tuesday (27Sep16), Drew seemingly has no hard feelings after the divorce.
The actress and producer laughed and joked with her ex-husband Will Kopelman’s father Arie at the event, as well as Will’s brother-in-law, Harry Kargman.
Arie, vice-chairman of Chanel, jokingly told the crowd at the Time Centre Stage he had not received royalty payments for helping Drew with the packaging for her cosmetics company Flower Beauty, and the actress was quick to fire back.
“I gave you two granddaughters,” Drew said. “And they love their poppy.”
“He’s the grandfather of all grandfathers,” she added. “He always says there’s nothing overrated about being a grandparent and he is the ultimate grandparent.”
However, Arie was keen to keep the jokes flowing with his former daughter-in-law, People.com reports. “You know the old joke, why are grandparents and grandchildren so close? They have a common enemy,” he laughed, before quickly adding he was “just kidding.”
Drew, and Will started dating in 2011, and married in 2012. She was previously married to bar owner Jeremy Thomas for just weeks in 1994, and comedian Tom Green filed for divorce months after they got hitched in July, 2001. The split was finalised in October, 2002.
