Duchovny Turns Down ‘Star Wars’ Role

A lot of people would bend over backward just to be part of the “Star Wars” empire. But not David Duchovny, apparently.

British entertainment site Empire Online reports that “The X-Files” guy, during a French Internet chat last week, revealed that he was approached by George Lucas about the still untitled “Episode 3” project.

But get this: He actually turned it down.

“I’m a fan of Star Wars,” Duchovny said during the chat, “but I’m not sure of having the time to act in it. … I’ve got tons of projects in production after the ‘X-Files’ series.”

One of those projects that Duchovny will have time for will be DreamWorks’ sci-fi comedy “Evolution,” where the actor has signed on to play a professor who must save the world from alien attacks.
