East 17 star Brian Harvey arrested over ‘malicious communications’

Ex-East 17 star Brian Harvey was arrested and hospitalised after allegedly sending malicious communications on Thursday (21Mar19).
Officers from London’s Metropolitan police were called to an address in Walthamstow, east London, after receiving reports that a man was threatening to harm himself. He remains in custody having undergone a mental health assessment in hospital.
“At approximately 18:09hrs on Thursday, 21 March police were alerted to man threatening self-harm,” a police spokesperson told WENN. “Officers subsequently attended an address in Walthamstow to complete a welfare check. A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of malicious communications. Following a physical assessment at hospital, the man was taken into police custody where he remains. He did not suffer any injuries.”
His arrest came shortly after he posted a concerning video on YouTube airing conspiracy theories and saying he wanted to talk to U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May or the government would have “blood on its hands”. He then threatened to self-harm and demanded help for those with mental health problems. Brian also posted footage of police officers arriving at his house online.
The star previously turned up at 10 Downing Street to demand a meeting with May’s predecessor David Cameron in 2014. He was also arrested for sending malicious tweets in 2017.
Harvey found fame in the 1990s as the frontman of pop act East 17, who had a Christmas number one hit with the ballad Stay Another Day.
The musician’s career faltered after East 17 split up in 1999 and in 2005 he was left with severe injuries after running himself over with his own car. He later blamed the accident on his opening the car’s door to be sick as he had fallen ill after bingeing on baked potatoes.
