Eccleston’s painful time on set of TV movie

The Doctor Who star is playing Pod Clock in the film, which also features Stephen Fry and tells the story of a family fleeing their town to raise their daughter in a safer city.

Eccleston had to perform several hair-raising stunts for the role and he ended up injuring his nose, forcing him to take special Arnica tablets to ease the bruising.

He tells the Press Association, “I actually bruised the tip of my nose, which is pretty easy for me to do if you’ve seen my nose. I had a perfect black bruise from throwing myself continually into a crash mat when I jumped off a bookcase, so I looked comedic with that on the plane home.

“There’s a scene where (character) Granny Driver is stabbing down a screwdriver into a hole and we’re throwing ourselves against the sides of the room. Pretty much every morning me and (actress) Sharon (Horgan) had to have Arnica tablets – I’ve never had so many bruises on my bum!”
