Ed Sheeran and Jess Glynne enjoy ‘therapy’ sessions

Ed Sheeran has been helping his fellow British popstar Jess Glynne cope with fame.

The Thinking Out Loud hitmaker has co-written two songs with Jess, her new track Thursday, and Woman Like Me, which has been handed to Little Mix as the lead single from their forthcoming album LM5.

The 28-year-old singer grew close to Ed while working with him, and they ended up discussing their shared experiences of fame and talking through their problems together.

“Me and Ed chatted about the pressure of the industry, how it’s changed our lives and how we deal with things,” she tells Britain’s Daily Star newspaper. “It was interesting talking to another artist who has had uber-success because he’s experienced certain things people outside of the limelight don’t understand.”

Revealing how their conversations and songwriting sessions have helped her, she adds: “So it was good to have the perspective of somebody who gets it. It turned into a bit of therapy session – that’s where the song (Thursday) came from.”

Ed, 27, has spoken in the past about how he treats his songwriting as a type of therapy – picking up his guitar to pen a tune when he feels low.

“I think it (songwriting) is a form of therapy, to be honest,” he said during an appearance on BBC Radio 4 program Desert Island Discs last year (17). “I think any time I’ve ever got down or ever felt low the one thing that picks me up from that is writing a song about it because at least you’ve got a positive experience out of a bad experience.”

Ed was mentored by music legend Elton John, who helped the star gain recognition early in his career, as well as advising him to take a break before the release of his most recent album ÷ (divide).
