Ed Sheeran leads a host of musicians performing intimate living room concerts around the world to show solidarity with refugees.

The Give a Home concerts are organized by bosses at human rights charity Amnesty International and concert promoters Sofar Sounds and will take place in homes across more than 60 countries on 20 September (17).

Ed, 26, will be joined at his gig in America’s capital, Washington D.C., by Jean-Jean Bashengezi, also known as JAJA, a guitarist, singer, and refugee who now lives in the city.

In a press release announcing he had joined the lineup, Ed said, “We all deserve a home, not just the memory of one. That’s why I’m proud to join Amnesty International and Sofar’s Give a Home campaign in raising awareness for the global refugee crisis and funds for Amnesty’s important work.”

Jean-Jean was forced to flee his native Democratic Republic of Congo in 1994 after the country was plunged into conflict following the Rwandan genocide.

Amnesty International staff are campaigning for politicians to do more to help the estimated 22 million refugees worldwide.

In addition to Ed, acts including The National, Hot Chip, Jessie Ware, Frank Turner and The Naked and Famous, Billy Bragg, Morcheeba, Hudson Taylor, Gregory Porter will play their own intimate gigs.

The exact locations of the concerts are being kept secret by organizers until a later date.
