Eddie Murphy’s daughter at the centre of spat between Mel B and estranged husband

Mel B’s estranged husband has been awarded permission to fight for visitation rights to the daughter she shares with Eddie Murphy.
The former Spice Girls star was hoping to keep Angel, the 10-year-old she shares with Murphy, out of her split spat with Stephen Belafonte, but his lawyer, Michael Hanasab, told the judge overseeing the case Belafonte has raised Angel since she was an infant – and the lawmaker agreed Mel’s soon-to-be ex could challenge his estranged wife’s bid to keep him away from Eddie’s girl.
Murphy initially denied he was Angel’s father, but a DNA test proved she was his biological daughter – the product of a fling with the British pop star-turned-TV personality.
Mel B and Belafonte’s divorce battle turned nasty shortly after the singer filed papers earlier this year (Mar17), accusing her estranged husband of abusing her throughout their almost 10-year marriage and winning a restraining order against him.
Belafonte’s lawyer Grace Jamra asked the judge to order the star to produce her medical records back in April (17), so she could defend her allegations, and she recently filed a “motion to compel” order, which will force the singer to hand over the documents.
“The requested documents are relevant and absolutely essential for Respondent (Belafonte) to fully and adequately prepare for his defense at the trial and case on the domestic violence issues,” Jamra wrote. “As such, failing to grant this motion to compel would be entirely prejudicial to Respondent.”
Mel and Stephen, the biological father of her five-year-old daughter Madison, are set to face off with each other at a trial on 25 September (17), when the Spice Girls star will request a permanent restraining order against her estranged husband.
