Ellie Goulding offers support to Miley Cyrus and Lily Allen

British pop star Ellie Goulding has spoken out to offer her support to under-fire pals Miley Cyrus and Lily Allen. The Burn hitmaker is a big fan of former Hannah Montana star Cyrus but she is appalled the star is gaining a ‘bad girl’ reputation simply for sexing up her stage act.
She was also amazed to see critics turn on Allen following the release of her comeback single Hard Out Here in November (13), insisting accusations the accompanying promo was racist for featuring black backing dancers were unfair.
Goulding was present at the MTV Video Music Awards in August (13) when Cyrus unveiled her new scantily-clad, twerking stage persona, and she is adamant the routine was a lot more tame than it appeared on TV cameras.
She tells The Sunday Times Magazine, “I like Miley, she’s a friend. I was there at the V&As (sic) and it wasn’t half as bad or controversial as everyone made out. I was enjoying it.”
Referring to Allen’s provocative promo for Hard Out Here, she adds, “I thought that video was brilliant. It’s a myth that women just have to take their clothes off now to do well.”
Asked about allegations the video had racist undertones, she replies, “That obviously wasn’t her intention. She was very apologetic.”
