Singer Ellie Goulding has given her fans a Valentine’s Day treat by releasing a cover of Don Mclean’s ballad Vincent on the most romantic day of the year.
The track, which first appeared on McLean’s American Pie album in 1971, is a tribute to painter Vincent van Gogh.
Ellie released the cover without fanfare on Wednesday morning (14Feb18), stating, “My album isn’t ready yet, but for the best fans in the world, here’s my offering for Valentines Day.”
“A tribute to Don McLean who wrote this heartbreakingly beautiful and poignant ode to Vincent Van Gogh. So much love and big hug.”
The track can be streamed on Spotify or downloaded on iTunes.
