Elvis Costello postpones U.K. tour due to ill health

Elvis Costello has been forced to postpone the closing dates of his U.K. tour due to ill health.

According to a statement from bosses at the Plymouth Pavilions in England, where he was due to play with his band The Imposters on Thursday (28Jun18), the 63-year-old rocker underwent surgery to cure an unspecified ailment last month.

He continued to tour the U.K., and performed in Newcastle earlier this week, but is now taking time off on the advice of doctors.

“We have just been informed by the promoter that unfortunately Elvis Costello has been forced to postpone his next two performances on his current UK tour due to medical reasons,” the statement announcing the postponement read. “Following surgery last month, his doctor has strongly advised him to take a break from his current tour itinerary and rest. He apologises to his fans for the inconvenience and looks forward to rescheduling the dates.”

The Oliver’s Army singer has also pulled a concert at Cliff Pavilions in Southend-on-Sea, England on Wednesday but is scheduled to return to the stage at the Love Supreme Jazz Festival in East Sussex, England on Saturday.

New dates for the gigs are yet to be announced.
