Elvis Presley breaks Madonna’s U.K. albums chart record

Elvis Presley has unseated Madonna as the U.K.’s albums chart champ with his 13th number one.
The King was tied with the Material Girl with 12 chart-toppers, but his second collection of orchestral renditions of his hits, The Wonder Of You, has taken the top spot in Britain, taking his new tally to 13.
“(Elvis would have been) so thankful (for this),” the late rocker’s ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, tells OfficialCharts.com. “I am incredibly proud of all he has accomplished and so grateful to the U.K. fans who have kept his legacy alive with all of their support. I hope they continue to listen and love his music as much as I do.”
The Beatles currently hold the record for the most number one albums by any act, with 15.
Meanwhile, back in this week’s U.K. albums chart, Michael Buble’s Nobody But Me is new at number two, and Lady Gaga’s Joanne enters at three.
Leonard Cohen’s You Want It Darker comes in at four and Kings of Leon’s Wall take fifth place.
In the singles chart, Little Mix stays put at number one with Shout Out To My Ex, while James Arthur’s Say You Won’t Let Go takes the second spot.
The Chainsmokers and Halsey’s Closer is at three, while The Weeknd’s Starboy and Hailee Steinfeld, Grey and Zedd’s collaboration, Starving, round out the top five, respectively.
