Into The Wild star Emile Hirsch has been confirmed to play John Belushi in an upcoming biopic about the tragic funnyman. He will lead the cast of Steve Conrad’s new movie, which has the full backing of Belushi’s widow Judy and his Blues Brothers and Saturday Night Live sidekick Dan Aykroyd.
Adam Devine and Joaquin Phoenix were also reportedly among the frontrunners to play Belushi in the biopic, while TV actor Nelson Franklin is being considered to portray Ackroyd in the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Animal House star died 1982, aged 33.
