Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is fed up of being asked questions about her nude scenes in the fantasy TV series.

Since debuting as exiled royal Daenerys Targaryen in the hit HBO fantasy show in 2011, Emilia, 30, has appeared naked on screen a number of times.

In a Huffington Post blog published to coincide with Wednesday’s International Women’s Day (08Mar17), the British actress revealed her frustration at being constantly asked about her steamy moments on the show.

“Do I get asked questions at press junkets by men and women alike, specifically because they will get headline grabbing responses coming from a young woman? Yes,” she writes.

“If you’ve watched Game of Thrones then, spoiler, you will have seen me in the nude. There are plenty of ways in which people want me to respond to questions about this fact. And plenty of reasons why I do not feel the need to justify myself.”

However despite her misgivings about sexism in the entertainment industry, she knows she’s fortunate to have a platform to speak up for feminism.

“As my best friend would put it, I am a girl-boss, and I am in an industry where if I speak out against inequality I have a platform, and might be lucky enough to have a chance of being heard,” she explains.

“The roles I’ve played have given me an insight into what it feels like to be a woman who stands up to inequality and hate, and stands out as a feminist.”

Concluding her blog, she called on people to embrace kindness and equality, and help ensure those values became the “new normal” for boys and girls growing up.
