Sharon Osbourne slams concert promoters in foul-mouthed rant after Ozzy drops lawsuit

Sharon Osbourne has launched an astonishing, foul-mouthed rant at concert promoters Aeg, after they deemed it a “victory” when she and her husband Ozzy dropped their lawsuit against them.
The former Black Sabbath frontman and his manager wife Sharon launched a class action lawsuit against AEG officials in March (18) over a clause in the company’s contracts, stipulating that in order for Ozzy to book a show at London’s O2 Arena, he must agree to stage any large-scale indoor concert in Los Angeles at the Staples Center, which AEG chiefs also own.
Sharon argued the block-booking condition forces artists to perform at venues they are not comfortable with, and accused AEG executives of dragging musicians into their own dispute with industry rivals Live Nation. The case went to court in the U.S. but the Osbournes later decided to drop their action after the entertainment officials agreed to end their controversial block-booking tactic, which they maintained was simply in response to a similar ploy used by Live Nation heads.
Following the Osbournes’ decision, AEG described the voluntary dismissal as a “victory” – and it’s this description that angered fiery Sharon.
“From the start of this dialogue in February, this has been a battle about respect for the artists and their personal preferences. It wasn’t then and isn’t now a battle between promoters, which is how this is being portrayed by the recent statement from AEG claiming this as a ‘victory’,” she said in an open letter.
As well as arguing against AEG’s “disrespectful” claim that the lawsuit was brought about by Madison Square Garden (MSG) Entertainment, who manage the Forum in Los Angeles where Ozzy had wanted to perform instead of the Staples Center, Live Nation and Irving Azoff, the CEO of Azoff MSG Entertainment, Sharon took issue with their allegations the suit was a “publicity ploy”.
She concluded her letter by referring to a reference in AEG’s statement to Ozzy’s famous incident where he bit the head off a bat, writing: “The only thing remotely interesting in your statement was your pitiful attempt at humour with your quote that Ozzy ‘had no idea what he was biting off.’ If you’re interested, Ozzy and I have got something nice for you bite on… our a*sholes… see ya loser!”
