Emma Bunton tapped to host The Great American Baking Show

Emma Bunton is hosting the next series of The Great American Baking Show.

The cooking competition, which is an adaptation of the U.K.’s The Great British Bake Off, was pulled from air last year (17) after just two episodes, following allegations of sexual misconduct against former judge Johnny Iuzzini – who denied the allegations, but was later fired from the programme.

Emma has started filming the upcoming series alongside returning host Anthony ‘Spice’ Adams, while Paul Hollywood has also returned to the judging panel, joined by cookbook author Sherry Yard.

“Oh my goodness, I mean dream job!” the singer gushed while announcing the news during her breakfast show on Heart radio. “It’s amazing. Just being in the famous tent. Honestly it took me about a week just to get used to being in the tent!”

The Wannabe hitmaker went on to praise Paul for his “great sense of humour,” but joked that she was wary of the British chef when her co-host, Jamie Theakston, reminded her of the affair between Paul and his The American Baking Competition co-star Marcela Valladolid. The pair were both judges on the show, and their fling helped contribute to the end of his marriage to wife Alexandra last November.

“I did watch out for him – he can be trouble,” the Spice Girl grinned. “He’s got those eyes. Don’t look in his eyes!”

Emma added that she had to remember to say “cookie” instead of the common British term “biscuit,” and shared that the latest series of The Great American Baking Show is a “holiday edition” scheduled to air around Christmas-time.
