Emma Chambers dead at 53

British actress Emma Chambers has died at the age of 53.
Chambers, who was best known for playing Alice Tinker in beloved British comedy The Vicar of Dibley, passed away on Wednesday evening (21Feb18) from natural causes, her agent John Grant said in a statement on Saturday.
He said she would be “greatly missed” and added, “Emma created a wealth of characters and an immense body of work. She brought laughter and joy to many”.
Chambers played Alice Tinker, a village church verger, alongside Dawn French in The Vicar of Dibley between 1994 and 2007, winning a British Comedy Award for Best Actress for her performance in 1998.
She is also best known for playing Hugh Grant’s sister Honey in the 1999 romantic comedy Notting Hill.
Both projects were created by Richard Curtis and his wife Emma Freud paid tribute to Chambers on Twitter, writing, “Our beautiful friend Emma Chambers has died at the age of 53. We’re very very sad. She was a great, great comedy performer, and a truly fine actress. And a tender, sweet, funny, unusual, loving human being.”
Chambers’ other credits include The Bill, a BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens’ novel Martin Chuzzlewit, and Drop the Dead Donkey.
She is survived by her actor husband Ian Dunn.
