Emma Stone and Her Make-Up Artist Get Matching Perms

Emma Stone has taken the plunge and permed her hair.

The La La Land actress is known for her signature shiny red tresses, often styled poker-straight or in chic Old Hollywood-style waves when she steps out for red carpet events.

But Emma has now decided to get permanent curls, with her make-up artist, Rachel Goodwin, documenting them both undergoing the process on her Instagram page on Wednesday (31Jan18).

“We have a permanent bond! Some friends get tattoos, well we get perms! We’re here to tell you that they are BACK and they’re not your grandmas perm!” the beauty expert captioned snaps of the duo sitting in black salon capes with orange and blue foam rollers in their hair, adding that the perms were courtesy of Mara Roszak and Kiley Fitzgerald at Mare Salon in Los Angeles. “Especially when you are in the amazing hands of @mararoszak and @bykileyfitz at @mare_salon #curlyisthenewstraight this is the #newwave.”

Emma and Rachel have yet to show off their new looks on social media or in public. But don’t expect the trendsetters to have tight ’80s-inspired ringlets, as the New Wave perm is free of harsh chemicals and offers up effortless and beachy waves.

And Emma isn’t the only celebrity to try out the trend, with Julianne Hough getting a perm back in 2016 to achieve “sexy beach waves”, and Jenna Dewan Tatum also rocking natural curls.

Supermodel Miranda Kerr has also tried a modern perm of late, trying out the American Wave process, which utilizes modern ionic waving lotion and hair setting techniques.
