Evan Rachel Wood Set to Make Directorial Debut


Evan Rachel Wood is reportedly gearing up to make her feature film directorial debut.

Vulture broke the news that Evan is set to get behind the camera in a recent article about Jenny Slate, where among stories of her short-lived relationship with Captain America star Chris Evans it also mentioned her upcoming projects, one being Evan’s film.

Vulture reports the 29-year-old will direct and star in a road trip movie, alongside Jenny, Alison Pill, and Cynthia Erivo, who won a Tony Award last year (16) for her role in The Color Purple.

The production will take place in Vancouver with filming slated to start soon.

Earlier this year, Westworld actress Evan helmed a music video for her band Rebel and a Basketcase.

The electric pop duo consists of Evan and Zach Villa, and they shot the video for single Lightning Look, which is taken off of their eponymous EP.

The four minute video told the tale of lost love inside of a roller skating rink, with both Evan and Zach starring.

Evan comes from a family of directors, with her mother Sara Wood directing a number of shorts and her father, Ira David Wood III, a theatre director and playwright.

Before shooting on the her new untitled project begins, Evan is being kept busy with film work. She can next be seen in Viena and the Fantomes, about a roadie who travels across North America with a punk band during the 1980s, alongside Zoe Kravitz and Dakota Fanning.

She also recently wrapped on A Worthy Companion, a dramatic thriller from photographer brothers Carlos and Jason Sanchez.
