Faith Evans & Eric Benet to headline free Prince tribute

Halle Berry’s ex-husband Eric Benet and Faith Evans will headline a Prince tribute in Los Angeles on Friday night (06May16).
Thousands of adoring fans are expected to gather at a free public memorial on the south lawn of City Hall at 5pm local time for an event which will stretch into the evening.
Soul singer Aloe Blacc will also grace the stage and rumours persist that the late music mogul’s pal and Purple Rain co-star Morris Day and his band the Time will also make an appearance, as will members of Prince’s New Power Generation.
City Hall, where Prince filmed his Diamonds & Pearls video, has been lit up purple to honour the superstar since his untimely death last month (Apr16).
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti issued a statement following Prince’s death. It read: “Prince was a once-in-a-generation talent. His genius on stage, and in the studio, was matched only by his determination to protect the integrity of his art and defend the rights of artists to control what they create.”
