Famine movie triumphs at Beijing Film Festival

Director Feng Xiaogang’s historical epic Back To 1942 has triumphed at the Beijing International Film Festival in China. The movie picked up the coveted Best Feature Film prize and was also named the winner of the Best Visual Effects award.
The film chronicles the famine which devastated the province of Hunan during World War Two.
Meanwhile, Chinese star Yan Bingyan nabbed the Best Actress title for her performance in Feng Shui, and movie veteran Terence Stamp claimed the Best Actor prize for Song For Marion, which also picked up the Best Screenplay award.
Other winners included Cate Shortland (Best Director for Lore), Helena Bonham Carter (Best Supporting Actress for Great Expectations) and Vahagn Simoyan (Best Supporting Actor for If Only Everyone).
