Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock said no to Bieber & Perry movies

Morgan Spurlock signed up to make the new One Direction tour film after turning down the chance to direct Katy Perry and Justin Bieber’s concert movies. The man behind Super Size Me and The Greatest Movie Ever Sold admits he was too busy to take on big screen projects with Bieber and Perry, but the One Direction film came just at the right time.
He tells WENN, “I got called about three years ago by Paramount while we were making The Greatest Movie Ever Sold to meet with them about possibly making a film about Justin Bieber. I said, ‘I’m in the middle of doing a production and there’s no way that’s going to be able to happen right now’.
“I got called again last January to see if I would meet with Paramount about the Katy Perry film. I was finishing both Mansome and Comic Con Episode Four so there was no way I could put a third movie into my lap. I’d rip my eyes out. We delivered both those movies and come June Sony called and said, ‘Have you ever heard of this band One Direction?’ I said, ‘Of course I know who they are’.
“I was in the U.K. doing a TV series and literally was right in the middle of them exploding. I said, ‘Absolutely I will do it. I’m not going to miss another one of these opportunities again!’ I jumped at the chance.”
