Filmmaker Zalman King loses cancer battle at 69

King was best known for his steamy thrillers like 9 1/2 Weeks, Two Moon Junction and Wild Orchid. He also brought the controversial Red Shoe Diaries to TV.

He passed away in Los Angeles on Friday (03Feb12).

Charlie Sheen was among the first people to pay tribute to King, taking to his Facebook.com page to write, “the world lost a brilliant and noble soul today. My dear friend of 40 years, Zalman King, just lost his battle with cancer. Fought like a recon marine til the bitter end. Say a prayer for his amazing wife Pat and their lovely daughters. Safe travels my friend.”
