First daughter’s trial on hold

Jenna Bush, daughter of President George W. Bush, had her trial for underage drinking postponed. People magazine reports that the delay is due to her lawyer’s recent knee surgery. Bush was stopped and ticketed last week by Austin police for drinking a beer, in a routine sweep of local bars designed to catch underage drinkers. The maximum punishment Bush would face if convicted is a fine of not more than $500, 12 hours of community service, and a six-hour alcohol awareness class. This is Bush’s first offense.
