The former Power Rangers star was accused of using a samurai sword to kill Joshua Sutter, 36, following a heated argument over the actor’s girlfriend in their Palmdale, California home in January, 2015.

Medina, Jr., who maintained he acted in self-defenze, had been facing 26 years to life in prison after he was slapped with a murder charge last year (16), but he pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter earlier this month (Mar17).

He was given the maximum sentence during a hearing on Thursday (30Mar17), reports TMZ.com.

The 38-year-old was originally arrested and released without charge in 2015, but sheriff’s investigators continued looking into the case, and Medina, Jr. was taken into custody again a year later (Jan16), when he was charged with murder.
