Frank Darabont’s Mob City axed

Frank Darabont’s TV series Mob City has been axed by bosses at America’s TNT network. The noir crime drama, which was the writer/producer’s first TV project since being fired from hit series The Walking Dead, was billed as a limited series to be shown over three weeks, with the potential to be extended.
However, the show’s December (13) premiere attracted just two million viewers and executives at the network have now decided they will not take the project any further.
A TNT representative says in a statement, “Mob City was created as a three-week television event and we are incredibly proud of the six hours we presented of this remarkable drama. Although the ratings of the limited series haven’t warranted more hours, we are eager to work with Frank Darabont again and were delighted to bring the vibrant world of Mob City to life.”
Mob City starred Milo Ventimiglia and Jon Bernthal, who previously worked with Darabont on The Walking Dead.
Darabont is credited with bringing the zombie TV show to the small screen, but he was dismissed in 2011 amid an alleged dispute with network bosses.
