The Million Dollar Baby star is to be the 2012 recipient of the coveted Cecil B. DeMille Award at the prestigious ceremony in January.
Past recipients include Robert De Niro, Freeman’s The Bucket List co-star Jack Nicholson and his friend and collaborator Clint Eastwood.
The honour will cap a tremendous 12 months for Freeman – he was gifted with the American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award in June (11).
