Actress Gabrielle Union is adding author to her resume by detailing her life experiences in a new book later this year (17).

The Bad Boys II star writes about sexuality, womanhood, friendship, and other topics in a series of essays in We’re Going To Need More Wine: Stories That Are Funny, Complicated, and True, which will be released in October (17).

“Throughout my life, I’ve often wondered aloud, ‘How the hell did I end up here? Why me?’,” she says. “Not sure I’ve ever found all the answers to those questions, but in this book I share my journey… the good, the bad, and the WTF (what the f**k). You will definitely need more wine for this one.”

“Reading Gabrielle Union’s writing is like spending time with that friend who asks the tough questions, makes you examine your own choices, tells tales on herself and makes you laugh until your stomach hurts,” Carrie Thornton, editorial director of publisher Dey Street Books, adds.

Gabrielle has been vocal about a number of subjects in her life including being raped aged 19. Last year (16), she wrote an op-ed piece for the Los Angeles Times following the controversy surrounding her

The Birth of a Nation director Nate Parker, who was accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old classmate at Penn State University in Pennsylvania in 1999. He was acquitted in 2001.

It will be a busy few months for Gabrielle, who is also set to launch a namesake fashion line with retailer New York & Company in the near future.
