Gary Oldman Relocating to Palm Springs

Gary Oldman is permanently moving to Palm Springs, California with his wife.

The British actor revealed he was making the move with his fifth wife, art curator Gisele Schmidt, while accepting the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor for his portrayal of U.K. Prime Minister Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Tuesday (02Jan18).

“My wife and I are making Palm Springs our permanent home,” he said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “So, it does feel a little bit like, a local boy makes good.”

The ceremony marked his third appearance at the festival since 2012 and he thanked Festival Chairman Harold Matzner for having him back before adding, “In light of my soon-to-be-status as a desert resident, perhaps we can make this an annual thing.”

Oldman, who has lived in the Los Angeles area since the ’90s, tied the knot to art curator Schmidt, in Beverly Hills, California, at the home of his manager Douglas Urbanski last year (17).

He revealed during a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show that he proposed to his partner while in full Churchill make-up.

“I actually proposed to my wife on the set of Darkest Hour, so was dressed as Winston Churchill and she still said yes!” he laughed.

Oldman was previously married to singer/actress Alexandra Edenborough from 2008 until she filed for divorce in 2015. He was also married to Donya Fiorentino, the mother of his two sons Gulliver and Charlie, from 1997 to 2001, Pulp Fiction star Uma Thurman from 1990 to 1992, and English actress Lesley Manville, the mother of his son Alfie, from 1987 to 1989.
