Gary Oldman to be Honored at Santa Barbara International Film Festival

Gary Oldman will be honored with the Maltin Modern Master Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in California next year (18).

The Dark Knight Rises star, who is a favorite for the Best Actor Oscar in February (18), will be feted for his career and his performance as British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour on 2 February. Film critic Leonard Maltin will moderate the event.

Gary Oldman has dazzled audiences for decades with an array of brilliant performances,” Maltin says. “With Darkest Hour, he has once again proven that he is a force to be reckoned with, and a true master of his craft.”

The accolade, which is the highest award presented by SBIFF officials, was established in 1995. P

revious recipients include Denzel Washington, Ben Affleck, Clint Eastwood, Will Smith, and George Clooney.

The festival will begin on 31 January (18).
