Gemma Arterton has been cast to portray Marilyn Monroe in a new TV comedy.
The one-off show will be set during the filming of the movie icon’s hit movie Some Like It Hot, and will center upon Monroe’s rumored heavy drinking, which reportedly impaired her ability to recall lines.
James Purefoy will portray Billy Wilder, who wrote the screenplay for the 1959 movie, in the 30-minute comedy, which will premiere in the spring as part of the ongoing Urban Myths series in the U.K.
Sean Foley will direct.
Former Bond girl Arterton joins a long list of actresses who have portrayed Monroe including Michelle Williams, Mira Sorvino, and Kelli Garner.
