George Shelley performs tribute song for late sister at her funeral

British singer George Shelley performed a moving tribute to his late sister Harriet at her funeral on Wednesday (24May17).
Harriet Shelley, 21, suffered serious head injuries in a car accident on 28 April (17), and was receiving treatment in an intensive care unit at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, England at the time of her death.
A family friend confirmed that Harriet had died on 6 May (17), and she was laid to rest at St. Andrew’s Church in Cleveland, near Bristol, on Wednesday morning.
The service saw former Union J star George perform an emotional rendition of a tune he had written for his younger sibling.
“Harriet, I wrote this for you,” George, 23, said before singing the track which included heartbreaking lyrics such as: “When white feathers fall from the sky, I’ll keep them close knowing you’re nearby, I’ll find strength in knowing I will see you soon. My guardian angel now is you.”
The song also detailed childhood memories George had of his sister, and included him admitting “he could not love her more” than he did.
Prior to the service, led by Reverend Hilary Blancharde, George and his brothers Will, Tom and Cameron, were seen carrying floral tributes into the church as The Supremes’ song The Happening played.
The wicker coffin then arrived in an ornate white carriage with glass sides, pulled by two black horses.
Harriet’s funeral came after George posted a tribute to his younger sister on Instagram following her death.
“I will never accept that you’re gone. You will always be with me. My best friend, my sister, my angel,” the singer posted, alongside a snap of himself and Harriet. “Too pure and too beautiful to walk among humans, you now exist somewhere else, and I am honoured to have had the privilege to spend 21 years with you by my side. Don’t get used to it up there without me, I’ll see you soon beautiful girl. I love you.”
